Martha Joan Jernigan Rhett went to be with her Lord on August 27, 2016.
Mrs. Rhett was the daughter of Robert Wesley Jernigan, and Charley Pearl Perkins Jernigan.
She is survived by her Children

Mrs. Rhett was born on April 23, 1931. She graduated from Lee High School . She held a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from M.S.C.W, which is now known as Mississippi University for Women. Joan was a public school teacher for ten years. She was a life member of the Junior Auxiliary and a member of First United Methodist Church .
She and her husband Bill Rhett were affiliated with a family business, the Rhett Corporation Real Estate Company for 23 years.
In the fifties Joan represented Columbus as Miss Hospitality of Mississippi . She continued her hospitality in her remaining years to all who knew and loved her.
Private graveside services were held Thursday September 1, 2016 at Friendship Cemetery . Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
