C.W. Walters

C. W. Walters age 81, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital , Columbus . Services will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Shelby Hazard, and Rev. Bo Bankston officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus . Visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Walters was born on February 10, 1935 in Greenwood Springs , MS to the late Claude David and Callie Lee Flippo Walters. He was a charter member of Woodland Baptist Church , where he served in several positions including treasurer and deacon.

He attended school at Greenwood Springs, and Railroad Communications Telegraph School in Kansas City , MO. He began his 40 year railroad career as a Morse Code Telegrapher, then retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (Frisco) Railroad as a Customer Service Agent.

He was a 32 nd degree Scottish Rites Mason and former Lion’s Club member. His hobbies included Ole Miss sports, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was especially happy spending time with his grands, and often commented he had the perfect family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fowler Walters, and David Lee Walters.
