LELAND B. MASSEY

Leland B. Massey, age 87, died Tuesday, November 08, 2016 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo . Services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. Burial with U.S. Army Honors will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus . Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Memorial Funeral Home. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Massey was born on Sunday, March 17, 1929 in AL to the late Thomas Andrew and Sally Bell Swedenburg Massey. He was a member of East End Baptist Church , and a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Veteran where he was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Metal. He was retired from Kmart, and Mitchell Steel Buildings . In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ruth Mullen, and Betty Jane Burns, and his brothers, Edward and Dewitt Massey.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Jean McKellar Massey, Columbus , MS, his d aughter  Sylvia Boone, Columbus , MS, his son and daughter-in-law Richard and Carol Massey, San Antonio, TX, his sister Marqurite Jones, Georgia, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
