Dama Ann Black Johnson was born on March 27
, 1923 to William Andrew and Ina Rebecca Black in Ackerman, Mississippi. Mrs. Johnson was predominantly a resident of Mississippi until moving to Cedar Springs Retirement Community in Decatur, Alabama in 2014. She resided there until her death on November 22, 2016.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by the fathers of her children, Phillip McKnight and LB Hunt. Mrs. Johnson was the widow of Colonel Henry Leon Johnson of Columbus, Mississippi. Mrs. Johnson was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Alvin and Roy Black, her sister, Lera Black Jones, and sons-in-law Gary Fulgham and Gary Grisham, Sr.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters Trudy McKnight Grisham , Wanda McKnight ( Roger Jensen), Pat Hunt Fulgham; sons Jim Hunt ( Colleen) and Bill Hunt, son-in-law Frank Odom. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gary Grisham, Jr. ( Lise) , Laura Odom, Scott Fulgham ( Allison), Patrice Fulgham Curtis ( Brad), Andy Hunt, Carrie Hunt Cerve ( Brian), Kate Jensen Schmitz ( Otto) and her great grandchildren Patrick Martin, Gary Grisham, III, Megan Odom, Cody Hunt, Karlyn, Laney and Kinley Curtis, Josiah and Elijah Cerve, Wolf, Jack and Lucy Schmitz, and Garrett Fulgham.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Ackerman Baptist Church, where her services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26 , 2016. Reverend Danny Irvin will officiate. Family will receive friends at the church at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Gary Grisham, Lise Grisham, Scott Fulgham, Patrice Curtis, Andy Hunt, Carrie Cerve; grandchildren of Mrs. Johnson.
Gunter and Peel Funeral Home, Columbus, Mississippi, is in charge of her arrangements.
