Thomas Halbert Yeatman, Jr., age 88, of Columbus, MS, passed away
November 28, 2016, at Windsor Place. Funeral services will be Friday,
December 2, 2016, at
1:00 PM
at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene
Bramlett officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship
Cemetery. Visitation will be

the time of the service at Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Yeatman was born December 1, 1927, in Longview, MS, to the late
Thomas Halbert Yeatman, Sr. and Louise Price Yeatman. He graduated from S.
D. Lee High School and attended Mississippi State University before joining
the Navy and serving in World War II. After his time in the Navy, he
returned to Columbus where he married Peggy Bowie, his wife of 68 years.
Mr. Yeatman was a member of Central United Methodist Church (now Covenant
United Methodist Church) where he was involved in Methodist Men as well as
other areas of the church. He was also very civic minded. Mr. Yeatman was
a member of the Lions Club, the Hamasa Shrine Temple, and was a 32nd degree
Mason and a member of the Columbus Lodge #5 F&AM. He was a Scout Master for
the Boy Scouts and coached peewee football for the YMCA. Mr. Yeatman was an
avid pilot in his younger years and also very involved with the Columbus
Archery Club. He owned a gas station and motel before becoming involved in
the wholesale and retail gasoline and oil business. He later became a life
insurance salesman where he owned and operated his own agency until
retirement.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Yeatman was preceded in death by his
sisters, Dorothy Yeatman Brown and Virginia Yeatman Graham, and brothers,
James "Buddy" Yeatman and Harry Yeatman.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy
Bowie Yeatman, son, Tommy Yeatman and his wife Vivian, daughter, Teri
Yeatman Blaise and her husband Bruce, grandchildren, Luke Yeatman and his
wife Laura Catherine, Trent Yeatman, Brett Blaise and his wife Shelly, and
great grandchildren, Julia Yeatman and Hudson Yeatman, all of Columbus, MS.
Pallbearers will be Brett Blaise, Bruce Blaise, Luke Yeatman, Trent
Yeatman, Dale Parra, and Keith McGee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Bray, Dr. Brett Brown, Ike Savelle,
Tommy Southerland, Windford Swedenburg, and Billy West.
