Martha Carolyn Russell

Carolyn Russell of Murfreesboro , TN , formerly of Columbus , MS , went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 15, 2016.

Visitation will be held Saturday December 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Main Street Presbyterian Church. Private burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery . Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carolyn was born on November 5, 1929, to Hubert Ottis and Ermine Russell of Corinth, MS. She had two sisters and one brother: Marjorie Bryant of Dallas , TX , Frances Laws of Columbus, MS, and Billy Russell, now deceased.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Russell, Jr., and her daughter, Lynda Langerfeld, who was married to Rev. David Langerfeld of Tupelo, MS. Surviving children are: Susan Aldridge of Panama City, FL, Dr. John Russell, III, married to Pat, of Columbus, MS, and Merrill Shepard, married to Dr. Theo Shepard of Murfreesboro, TN.

Carolyn has eight grandchildren: James and John Aldridge; John Mark, Will, and Stephen Russell and Hannah Moore; and Sam and David Shepard.

Carolyn was active in the Presbyterian church and centered her life around church involvement such as choir, Bible studies, and various ministries.
