Peggy Joyce Cash

July 23, 1929 — December 31, 2016

Peggy Basinger Cash, age 87, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital , Columbus . Services were held Monday, January 2, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Albert Wilkerson officiating, assisted by Brother Bill Duncan. Interment followed at Friendship Cemetery .

Mrs. Cash was born July 23, 1929 in Columbus to the late Arthur Leo and Beulah Nixon Basinger. She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and celebrations of all kinds. She was a wonderful role model to her children, grandchildren, and their friends who knew that her love for them was unconditional. Her kindness and generosity were extended to everyone she met. Family gatherings showcased her exceptional cooking skills. She never met a stranger and showed compassion for everyone. She loved her Lord and her church family, especially her Sunday School Class. Her life touched the lives of so many people, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M.T. Cash, Jr. (Johnny); grandchild, Haley Sewell; siblings, Arthur L. Basinger Jr., Elizabeth Basinger, Elise Smith, Edith Blanchard, Thomas Basinger, and Billy Basinger. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Sewell (Tim) of Columbus, Sherry Fotinakes (Randy) of Marietta, Georgia, and Becky Cash of Columbus; sister, Ida Rose of Center Moriches, New York; brother Henry Basinger (Catherine) of Columbus. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Anna Couch (Bobby) of Columbus, Jodi Eberhard (Phil) of Claymont, Delaware, Ashlee Jones (Jack) of Waleska, Georgia, and Jonathan Fotinakes of Austin, Texas. Her great grandchildren include Christian Pearson, Columbus , Kendall Couch, Caledonia, Karlyn and Saylor Jones, Waleska , Georgia .

Pallbearers were Danny Cash, Bobby Couch, Phil Eberhard, Jonathan Fotinakes, Randy Fotinakes, Jack Jones, and Tim Sewell. Honorary pallbearers were Travis Berry, Jerry Kendall, George Vernon Henley, Charlie Veasey, Marty Dees, members of the Winsome Sunday School Class at East End Baptist Church , and members of Ladies Aid of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
