William Given Hornsby
December 14, 1946 — January 7, 2017
January 7, 2017, at his residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday,
January 11, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Charlie Whitney officiating. The interment will immediately follow at
Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon, AL. Visitation will be one hour prior to
the service.
Mr. Hornsby was born December 14, 1946, in MS, to the late Given and
Pina Young Hornsby. He was a boy scout and eagle scout and enjoyed
scouting. Mr. Hornsby worked for many years and retired with the Lowndes
County Sheriff's Department as a jailer and transport officer. He attended
East End Baptist Church and in addition to his parents, was preceded in
death by his wife Sandra Wilson Hornsby.
Survivors include his daughter, Charlene Cooke and her husband Marsh of
Columbus, MS, sister, Sue Foster of CA, grandchildren, Gibson Cooke and Will
Cooke of Columbus, MS, and several nieces and nephews.
