Marion Eugenia Steger Cockerham, age 98, of Columbus, MS, passed away
February 4, 2017, at Windsor Place. Funeral services will be Tuesday,
February 7, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed
Knox officiating and Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Mitch McWilliams assisting.
The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at Memorial
Funeral Home. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cockerham was born December 21, 1918, in Columbus, MS, to the late Marian and Leo Greene Steger. She worked a number of years at Seminole Manufacturing, and also worked as a beautician, and in retail sales. Mrs.
Cockerham was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Dorcus Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Verner "Bish" Cockerham, daughter, Carol Blackwell and brother Jimmy Steger.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Smith and her husband Mike of Caledonia, MS, and Rhonda Caruthers and her husband Bob of Steens, MS, son, Mike Cockerham of West Point, MS, grandchildren, Scott Harrell and his wife Bettye, Mark Hankins, Micki Zavesky, Missie Smith of Caledonia, MS, Steve Smith of Caledonia, MS, Monica Hicks of Caledonia, MS, Betsy Pounders and her husband Ashley of Caledonia, MS, Robyn Miller and her husband Walt of Bentonville, AR, Daniel Caruthers and his wife Rachel of Caledonia, MS, and Jasmine Caruthers of Caledonia, MS, great grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Daniel Smith, Kelsey Smith, Kasey Smith, Haley Hicks, Emily Hicks, Courtney
Hicks, Andrew Pounders, Abigail Pounders, Karrington Miller, Bradley Miller, Chris Levister, Gracie Levister, Sami Levister, Morgan Caruthers, and Collin Caruthers, Ricky Wright, Doug Zavesky, Matthew Zavesky, Cheyanne Smith, D'Angelo Hankins and Kori Hankins and great great grandchildren, Caden Blunt and Westen Putt.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Caruthers, Steve Smith, Daniel Smith, Terry Bouchard, Burl Wood, and Adrian Bullard.
