Mrs. Betty Kathryn Austin Snapka, age 91, died Monday, April 10, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory. Graveside services with Rev. Father Robert Dore, celebrant, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Friendship Cemetery with burial to follow next to her late husband Charlie Snapka.
The daughter of the late Dalton Hugh and Myrtle Morgan Austin, Mrs. Snapka was born June 6, 1925 in Jamaica, IA. After her husband died suddenly in 1971, she soon went to work in the children’s department of Ruth’s and later worked for Egger’s Department Store in Leigh Mall and Reed’s, from which she retired. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her brother Dalton E. Austin.
Mrs. Snapka is survived by her sons and daughter –in-law Chuck and Margie Snapka of Madison, MS and Timothy H. Snapka of Columbus and her daughters and son-in-law Diane Snapka Walker and Paul of Houston, TX and Barbara Snapka Hardin of Starkville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicholas A. Snapka, C. Tyler Snapka, Austin Guyton Walker (Sarah), Bess Walker McGuire (Jeffrey), Andrew Snapka, Emily Snapka, Colden G. Hardin, and Henley L. Hardin and one great-grandchild Henry V. McGuire.
Her children would like to express their appreciation to the Homebound Ministry Program of Annunciation Catholic Church for their weekly visits, bringing the Holy Eucharist to their Mother.
