Joseph Morris Oyler, Jr., age 93, of Columbus, MS, passed away May 10, 2017, at Aurora Health & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be
Saturday, May 13, 2017
, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Sanderson officiating. The interment will immediatly follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Oyler was born August 3, 1923, in Attalla, AL, to the late Joseph Morris and Clara Grace Durham Oyler. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Mr. Oyler retired as a conductor from GM&O and Illinois Central Railroads. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Imogene Cornutt Oyler and Lorraine Collins Oyler, son, Burless Joseph Oyler, brothers, Burless J. Oyler, Charles K. Oyler, Harry J. Oyler, Richard L. Oyler, and Billy H. Oyler, and sisters, Mattie Lou Blanks and Jane Giles.
Survivors include his son, Winfred Oyler and his wife Teri of Millport, AL, daughter, Janice Oyler Nichols and her husband Randy of Roswell, GA, step son, Randy Collins of Columbus, MS, step daughter, Sidney Lepard and her husband Charles of Laurel, MS, daughter-in-law, Marilou Oyler of Ashville, NC, sisters, Martha Ann Carden of Ft. Payne AL, and Sara Nell Barnes of Ft. Payne, AL, 10 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
