JOE MANERS, Jr.

Joe Robert Maners Jr. age 77, passed away at Windsor Place Nursing & Rehab in Columbus, MS on June 5, 2017. He was born on September 29, 1940 in Gold Dust, TN to Charline Waters Huston from Pontotoc, MS and Joe Robert Maners Sr. from Memphis, TN. He grew up in Anniston, AL with his Dad and step-mom, Ara Thomas Maners.

Joe met his bride of 58 years, Linda Oliver (Columbus) while stationed at Columbus Air Force base. They were married in 1959 and had two daughters Terry Watkins (Michael) Philadelphia, MS and Tammy Gavin (Bill), Columbus, MS.

Mr. Maners was a Cost Accountant for Mitchell Engineering (CECO) and Gulf States Metal Buildings retiring in the 1995. His hobbies included going to the firing range, working in his wood shop doing carpentry and building furniture for family and friends. He loved going hunting with family. Most of all, Joe loved reading and all the adventures a book could take you on.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, a sister Ann Dukes (Chicago), grandchildren Cori Gavin and Nicholas Watkins (Nicole) and great-grandson Logan Watkins and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, visitation will be held on hour prior to service at the funeral home.
