Vadus Lorene Johnson

Mrs. Vadus Lorene Johnson, age 99 years and 10 months, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home with Shawn Dickey and Elbert Wheat officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery in Lamar County, AL.

The daughter of the late Mert and Myrtle Fannie Rector Allen, Mrs. Johnson was born August 21, 1917 in Lamar County, AL. A mother and homemaker, she was a longtime member of Columbus Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband J. Roy Johnson, who died in 2011.

She is survived by her daughter Betty Farris of Columbus and her sons and daughters-in-law Wallace and Brenda Johnson of Clanton, AL; Tommy G. and Nancy Johnson of Columbus and Johnny  and Roseanne  Johnson of Brandon, MS; her brother and sister-in-law Frank D. and Nancy Allen and her sister Grace Wells, all of Columbus.  She is also survived by her eight grandchildren Tommy G. Johnson, II (Kim), Louis D. Johnson, James W. Johnson, Jr. (Anna), Wesley A. Johnson (Stephanie), Charles W. Johnson, Matthew D. Johnson (Sunny) and Barbara Cotheran (Eric), Melanie J. Murphy, James H. Johnson, and ten great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Tommy G. Johnson, II, Louis D. Johnson, James W. Johnson, Jr., Wesley A. Johnson, James H. Johnson, Charles W. Johnson and Matthew D. Johnson.
