Kathlyn C. Graves, age 100, died August 20, 2017, in San Antonio, TX. Services will be held August 26 at Universal City United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens of Columbus, Mississippi.
Mrs. Graves was born on November 15, 1916 in Centralia, WA to the late D.O. and Mildred Skinner Cato. She was a life-long member of the Community of Christ Church, and a member of the San Antonio de Bexar Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Graves was a retired employee of the Mississippi University for Women where she was the secretary to the Dean of Students. She held an Associates degree from Graceland College and was an accomplished pianist. She played piano every morning for the residents of her assisted living facility well into her 90’s
.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Graves, Jr, her son, William III, sisters Gladys Wiley, Berdita Cato and Barbara Cummins and her brother, Alwyn Cato. Survivors include her daughter, Pamella Daniel of Universal City, TX, grandchildren Heather(Stephen) Darrah and William (Stephanie) Daniel of Texas; Robert (Kerry) Daniel of New Hampshire, Neil (Cari) Graves of Virginia, and Billie (Matt) Triplett of Alabama. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary, of Virginia, sister-in-law Helen Cato of Missouri, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice or to a charity of choice.
