Fred Albert Mcalexander

Fred Albert McAlexander, age 85, of Columbus, MS , passed away August 25, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital . Funeral services will be Monday, August 28, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Breck Ladd officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Monday, August 28, 2017, from 12:30 PM until the time of the service at the church. Gunter and  Peel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of his arrangements.

Mr. McAlexander was born October 21, 1931, in Holly Springs , MS, to the late Fred Walker and Mary Conrad McAlexander. He was a veteran of Korea serving in the United States Air Force. Mr. McAlexander received his engineering degree from Mississippi State University and retired as an industrial engineer from United Technologies. He was the former owner and operator of the Park Roller Palace Skating Rink. Mr. McAlexander was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Mississippi State sports, and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sara Tate Yates.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Ann McAlexander of Columbus, MS , sons, Jim McAlexander and his wife Lisa of Columbus, MS, and Steve McAlexander and his wife Courtney of Columbus, MS, sister, Jennie Dale Bell of New Albany, MS , grandchildren, Sarah McAlexander Bean and her husband Bryant, Courtney McAlexander, and Noel McAlexander, and great granddaughter, Molly James Bean.

Pallbearers will be Bryant Bean, James Criddle, Gene Yates, Leon Speck, and Jerry Nail. Honorary pallbeaers will be Frank Griffin, J.B. Cox, Warren Brown, Bobby Ward, George Wade, Rev. Sammy Crawford, Rev. Tommy Gillon, Dr. Brad Brown, Dr. Brett Brown, members of the John Wierengo Sunday School Class of Fairview Baptist Church, Deacons of Fairview Baptist Church, nurses and staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital and Hospice, The Arrington, and Windsor Place .
