MYRA WALKER
Myra Dell Honnoll Walker age 88, died Monday, September 04, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Services will be held Thursday, September 07, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Powell officiating, burial will follow at Egger Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walker was born on Monday, July 22, 1929 in Caledonia MS to the late Elzie and Madge Honnoll. She was a charter member of St. Paul Independent Methodist Church in Caledonia, and a 1948 graduate of Caledonia High School. She went on to attend and graduate from Draughon’s Business College in Memphis in 1949. Afterwards she was employed by South Central Bell Telephone Company in Memphis. Her work carried her from Memphis to Columbus, MS, Mobile, AL, and Jacksonville, FL. She retired in 1984 after 32 years service with Bell South.
She was married in October 1953 to James D. Walker who preceded her in death.
Survivors include:
Brother - Wauford Burdette Honnoll, Caledonia, MS
Sister - Ferrell Stapp, Pelham, AL
James and Myra had no children of their own, however she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers will be:
Karl Williams, Charles Williams, Jeremiah Blackston, Andrew McDaniel, Dannie Honnoll, and Talbert Honnoll.
The family would like to recognize the staff of Aurora Nursing Home, Dr. Michael Duckworth, and Dr. Doyle Sumrall for their care of Mrs. Walker.
