Joan Christopher

Mrs. Joan Crawford Christopher, age 81, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home, 2nd Avenue North location.  Services will be Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home, 2nd Avenue North Location.   Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

The daughter of the late Pervy and Frances McGee Crawford, Mrs. Christopher was born April 14, 1936 in Columbus. She was a 1954 graduate of Stephen D. Lee High School in Columbus and worked at the Base Exchange at Columbus Air Force Base for seven years. She was a longtime member of Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her five brothers Williard, Ralph, Dorman, Dawes and Larry Crawford, three sisters Thalia, Lavelle and Lorene and her husband Jack T. Christopher, who died in 2010.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Tony and Paula Christopher of Anniston, AL, two sisters  Betty Blackman of Iowa City, Iowa and Peggy Haynes of Columbus, four grandchildren Candice Brown (Cass), Amanda Griffin (Dingus) Cayla Third (Zach) and Jacklyn Oliphant (Brent) and three  great-grandchildren Catch, Beckett and Adley Brown and a fourth great-grandchild , who will be named Moxleigh Oliphant, who  will be arriving very soon.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hardin, Mark Evans, Mark Ward, Bud Yeatman, Alex Gilliam, and Christopher Rhett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jace Hardin, Kevin Riley, Lenny Ring and Ryan Baucom.
