WILLIAM D. MADDOX

William D. “Bill” Maddox, age 85, passed away December 15, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at Memorial Gunter Peel College St. Chapel; burial with full U.S. Air Force Honors will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Maddox was born Nov. 3, 1932, in Vaiden, MS to the late Steve D. Maddox and Martha M. Griffin. In 1950, he joined the Air Force, and served honorably for 23 years before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in Columbus, MS. He continued his federal service at the Columbus branch of the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1994. He was also an avid golfer and gardener.

He is survived by a loving wife of 63 years, Mrs. Billie Maddox, one son, James (Janet); two daughters, Linda Ritchey (Mike) and Carolyn Nickoles (Jerry); five grandsons, Matthew, Benjamin (Sara), William, Wesley (Kelsea), and Timothy; one beloved granddaughter, Alexandra (Jon); two brothers, John Maddox and Jimmy Griffin; three sisters, Ann McMillon, Rebecca Hamilton, and Rose Pitts. Granddaddy was a devoted friend, a loving husband, and a cherished grandfather.

Honorary pallbearers are the seniors from CAFB Chapel, where he attended for over 20 years.
