Sally M. Puckett

Mrs. Sally M. Puckett, age 93, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2nd Avenue North. Visitation will be Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Memorial Gunter Peel, 2nd Avenue North, at 1:00 PM. The service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.

One of eleven children, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Ida L. Flake White and was born December 7, 1924 in Louisville, MS.  She graduated from Ellison Ridge School in Louisville and moved to Columbus in 1944. She began working for Seminole Manufacturing in 1950 and was employed as a Data Processor there when she retired on October 17, 1989. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Virginia Dale Robertson, two brothers James Cleveland White and Walter Earl White and her husband James Murrah Puckett, who died in 1988.

She is survived by her six sisters Ernestine Cockrell and Ethelyne Strait, both of Columbus, Janie Reynolds of Cedar Bluff, MS Janelle Ferguson and her husband James Bracken of Loganville, GA, Glenda Thomas of Louisville, MS and Carol Bullard and her husband John of Corinth, MS, her brother Fred Roland White of Shuqualak, MS and her brother-in-law Cecil Robertson of Columbus and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brett Brown, Mike Perkerson, Dr. Charlie Holcomb and Adrian Bullard.
