Robert Eugene Ford

January 6, 1933 — February 15, 2018

Robert Eugene Ford, Sr., age 85, of Columbus, MS, passed away February
15, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Graveside services will be Sunday,
February 18, 2018,at 3:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Criddle,
Rev. Trey Skaggs, and Rev. Anne Russell Bradley officiating.  Visitation
will be from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home &
Crematory 2nd Ave. location.
Mr. Ford was born January 6, 1933, in Barnesville, OH, to the late
Walter Elsworth and Ina Cortwright Ford.  The family moved to Hartford City,
IN, where he graduated from high school.  He attended Tri-State University
and entered the United States Air Force.  During his active duty, he
attended the Command and Staff School.  After serving on active duty, he
lived in Mobile, AL, and worked at Brookley Air Force Base and also served
in the Air Guard in Meridian, MS.  He and his family moved to Meridian, MS,
with the Air Guard until he retired as a Major.  While flying with the Air
Guard, he attended Mississippi State University where he received a degree
in Aeronautical Engineering.  He received his Master's Degree in Business
from George Washington University.  He and his family moved to Columbus, MS,
where he worked and later owned Brown Buick Cadillac Company, Inc. until he
sold it.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Columbus.  In
addition to his parents, Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his six sisters
and two brothers.
Mr. Ford leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Nancy Brown Ford, son,
Robert Eugene Ford, Jr. and his wife Cynthia, daughter, Nancy Ford Duke and
her husband Chuck, son, Dr. Floyd Norman Ford and his wife Celia, son, John
Douglas Ford and his wife Mary Anna, granddaughters, Madison Ann Ford, Mary
Dade Ford, and, Danielle Davis and her husband Brad, and grandsons, William
Dalton Ford, Zachary Neal Ford, and Chase Ford.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Bearden Lott, Edison James Lott, Duke Berry,
Russell Brown, Jeffrey Rhett, Kenny Heredia, Dr. Jim Stone, and Tim
Threadgill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Edison Lott, Howard Fisackerly,
John Dyson, and William J. Threadgill.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 32,
Columbus, MS, 39703.
