MARY CORKREN
Mary Young Wilson Corkren, age 85, of Columbus, MS, passed away
February 22, 2018 , at her residence. Graveside services will be Sunday,
February 25, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Harold
Lollar, Jr. officiating. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory
College St. location is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Corkren was born April 19, 1932, in Columbus, MS, to the late
Horace and Mary Gunter Young. She was a graduate of the Lee High School
Class of 1950 where she was Most Beautiful, Senior Maid, and Best Dressed.
Mrs. Corkren retired from Bellsouth and worked a number of years at National
Bank of Commerce and Baptist Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husbands, Thad S. Wilson and Hubert "Bozo"
Corkren, sister, Julia Lollar and great grandson, Cody O'Callaghan.
Survivors include her son, James W. "Jim" Wilson and his wfie Kay of
Columbus, MS, daughters, Marilyn O'Callaghan and her husband Johnny of
Caledonia, MS, and Anna Sanders of Columbus, MS, sister, Marion Verlin of
Atlanta, GA, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great
grandchildren.
