John M. Johnson
John Miles Johnson, 87, of Starkville passed away February 22, 2018. Born to John Wesley “Johnny” Johnson and wife Stella Lela Miles on June 15,1930 in Weir, Mississippi, John was a Korean era veteran and a 1954 graduate of Mississippi State College. As were four earlier generations of Johnson men, he was a life-long member of Freemasons and also a life-long member of Scottish Rites and Shriners.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, her children Pam (Chris) Creely and Shea (Mandy) Taylor, and four grandchildren; his children, Cynthia Johnson and David (Suzanne) Johnson, his grandchild Wesley Johnson; his sister Faye Coleman; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and first wife, Janie L. Wells.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 4th, 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Starkville. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Johnson requested donations to Shriner’s Hospitals, St. Jude Hospital, MSU Development Foundation, or a charity of choice. Memorial Gunter Peel College St. is in charge of arrangements.
