Mr. Whittle was born October 1, 1960, in Vardaman, MS, to the late James Daniel and Willie Edmonson Whittle. He was a graduate of Vardaman High School where he played baseball. He later received his associate’s degree from Itawamba Community College where he turned down a baseball scholarship to take care of his parents. Mr. Whittle worked at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for almost 20 years and retired after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church in Memphis, TN, for many years and was currently an active member of St. David’s Anglican Catholic Church of Mayhew, MS. Since retirement, he has been a wonderful father, husband, friend, brother, and role model. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Reedy.
Survivors include his wife, Tamela Whittle of Columbus, MS, son, Chris Whittle and his wife Tori of Nettleton, MS, daughter, Gili Whittle of Columbus, MS, brothers, Jimmy Reedy and his wife Patricia of Leander, TX, James Whittle and his wife Juanita of Calera, AL, Robert E. Whittle and his wife Mary of Dayton, TN, and Charles Whittle and his wife Alicia of Monument Park, CO, sister-in-law, Linda Reedy of Columbus, MS, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Jeanine Patton of Monroe, LA, and John and Tiffany Browning of Columbus, MS.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
