Jimmie Maxine Tubb Barnett, age 79, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Sarah Windham officiating. Visitation will be held at Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Howell Cemetery in the Athens Community. Memorial Gunter Peel College Street is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barnett was born on Tuesday, September 27, 1938 in the Athens Community of Monroe County, MS to the late James Mayfield and Beulah Maxine Howell Tubb. One of 2 children, she was preceded in death by her brother Howell Tubb.
Her home church was Wesley United Methodist Church, a member for 55 years. She was involved in her Sunday School Class, the “Circle 2” Ladies Group, Helping Hands, Fall Festival, Wednesday night Bible study, and the church supper club. She also was in charge of the 2nd Sunday church breakfast.
Professionally, she worked as a dental office bookkeeper for over 50 years.
Always involved in her community, Jimmie was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Cameo Club, and the Tenn-Tom camping club. In her very limited spare time, she enjoyed ancestry research, reading, traveling, visiting friends and family, and studying God’s Word.
