Patsy Blevins

Patsy Smith Blevins, age 76, died Saturday, July 7, 2018 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2nd Avenue North. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Lighthouse Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM at the church with Pastor Chris Rutledge officiating. There will not be a graveside service. Burial will be Wednesday at Friendship Cemetery.

The daughter of the late Vertis and Clauzell Varnon Smith, Mrs. Blevins was born August 3, 1941 in Columbus, MS. She attended Free Will Baptist College in Nashville, TN and graduated from Mississippi University for Women with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She worked for Will Bantan, Adjuster, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MS. She was employed by Weyerhaeuser Pulp and Paper as the   Administrative Coordinator for Engineering and Safety and retired in 2007 with thirty seven of service.  She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church where she faithfully served in many areas and was secretary for the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She loves to sing in the choir and in Trios with her friends.

She is survived by her husband Ronald R. Blevins of Columbus and her cousins Mark Smith, Vickie Daffron, Kay Mordecai and Lorrie Knight, all of Millport, AL and Peggy Cantelou of Columbus.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Wright, Todd Poole, Wayne McBride, David Edwards, Chris Howell, Nathaniel Howell, John Jones and Dr. James Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Martha Waltman, Spence Wallingford, Terrell Wallingford, Chad Waltman, Dr. Brad Brown, Tony Klosterman, David Howell, Julie Howell, Jonathan Howell and her Weyerhaeuser team Ray Crane, Ruby Wilson, Anna House, Martha Kinard, Alice Jones, Dottie Cross, David Wells and Bobbie Harcrow.
