JAMES A. MATTISON

James Arthur Mattison age 93 died Friday, July 13, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Columbus. Services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with Rev. John Gainer officiating; visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will take place Wednesday at Memorial Gardens of Columbus.

Mr. Mattison was born on Thursday, August 14, 1924 in Alabama to the late Sylvester and Vera Freeman Long. He was a member and past deacon of Friendship Baptist Church. Mr. Mattison worked until age 89, many of those years spent as a security officer. In his early years he enjoyed racing go-carts and sprint cars. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Pickens Mattison, his daughter Betty Mae Ledsworth and her husband Frankie, his sister Mildred Stanford, his brother Jack Mattison, and his adoptive parents Malcolm Franklin and Marie Horst Mattison.

Great Great Grandchildren:

Mattison Elizabeth, Katie Marie, Dawson Riley, and Malorie Ann

Extended family:

Ruth Ann Faris, Sarah Brummett, and Terrie Calahan.

The Honorary Pallbearers will be:

Denny Calahan, Ric Higgins, Charles Slayton, and Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church
