Miss Flora Blalock, age 99, of Millport, AL, passed away August 2, 2018, at Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care in Fayette, AL. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Kennedy Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Martin officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Millport City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 3, 2018, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, College St. location and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Kennedy Baptist Church. Miss Blalock was born October 16, 1918, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Robert Hunter and Mattie Logan Blalock, Sr. Flora worked for many years at Seminole Manufacturing designing clothing for Sears, Montgomery Ward, J. C. Penney and other companies and was also the assistant manager of Lamar Manufacturing Company when it was first opened in Millport untilher retirement. Miss Blalock was a member of Kennedy Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Bailey and Hilda Pendley; and brothers, Robert, Cecil and John Wallace “J. W.” Blalock. Survivors include her sisters, Hazel Lawrence of Ethelsville, AL and Pat Burt of Winfield, AL; and brothers, William Eugene Blalock of Columbus, MS and Jimmy Blalock of Kennedy, AL. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the nursing staff at Fayette Medical Center Long Term Care and Dr. Martha Christian for their kind and gracious care.
