Tommy Lott
Thomas E. Lott, Jr., age 82, of Columbus , MS , passed away August 23, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital .
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 5:00 PM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Criddle officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery . Visitation will be from 3:30 PM until the time of the service in the Fletcher Jones building of First United Methodist Church . Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, College Street location is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lott was born April 14, 1936, in Columbus, MS, to the late Thomas E. and Ruth Senter Lott, Sr. He was a 1954 graduate of S. D. Lee High School and a 1958 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he played on the golf team and was Past Consel of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi. Mr. Lott served as Chairman of the Board of T. E. Lott & Company and was Past President of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was active with the Link and various economic development endeavors throughout his career and served on numerous industry boards. Mr. Lott was awarded the Jaycees Man of the Year and was Past President of the Columbus Rotary Club and Mississippi Golfers Association. He served as trustee of the YMCA and was instrumental with the development of the Good Samaritan Medical Clinic. Mr. Lott was a member of First United Methodist Church leading and serving on various committees. He loved Mississippi State athletics and was a member of the Bulldog Club and M-Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Cade Lott; and brother, Billy Lott.
Survivors include his sons, Toby Lott and his wife, Kim of Columbus, MS and Ed Lott and his wife, Patti of Columbus, MS; daughter, Marion Lott Kilarski and her husband, Doug of Columbus, MS; and grandchildren, Morgan Lott, Cade Lott, Anna Kilarski, Douglas Kilarski and John Rhett “J. R.” Lott.
Pallbearers will be Brett Brown, Russell Brown, Bryan Brown, Norman Ford, Douglas Ford, Key Blair, Tommy Howard and Foster Kennedy.
Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of T. E. Lott & Company, past and present board members of the YMCA, FUMC Pray Men, members of the Phillips Foundation Board and members of the Saturday Morning Breakfast Club.
