Jimmie Lee Wilson, 87, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at his residence in Caledonia, MS. Services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 12:00 PM at First Christian Church with Archie Taflinger officiating and assisted by Larry Ferguson and Mike Melvin. Burial will follow at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia, MS. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until service time. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2nd Ave. N location is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wilson was born on Monday, January 19, 1931, in Sullivan, IN, to the late Vernard and Kathryn Hummell Wilson. On November 8, 1951, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 20 years. He retired from the USAF on December 1, 1971, from Langley, VA, with the ranking of Senior Master Sergeant. He loved his country and was proud to serve, fight and defend. Upon his retirement from Langley AFB, he and his family moved home to Elm Lake Ranch, Columbus. After his retirement from the USAF, he worked as an electrician at Walker Manufacturing until 1991. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Edward Wilson and Vernard Eugene Wilson; and his sisters, Mary McCammon and Pat Clark. Survivors include his wife, Helen McGary Wilson of Caledonia MS; sons, John Wilson (Missy) of Caledonia and Larry Wilson (Melinda) of Columbus; sister, Mary Jernigan of Linden, TN; brother, Mickey Wilson (Shirley) of Caledonia; four grandchildren, Leslie Wilson of Mantee, MS, Christopher Wilson (Jorga) of Brandon, MS, Brittany Wilson of Caledonia, MS and Courtney Clardy (Robbie) of Greenwood, AR; and six great-grandchildren, Gibson Johnson, Tucker Clardy, Collier Lee Johnson, Cooper Wilson Dorroh, Mary Falon Wilson and Talan Clardy. Pallbearers will be Mike Melvin, Bobby Jernigan, Christopher Wilson, Jesse Jernigan, Ryan Hatch and Andy Dorroh. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Deacons and Elders of First Christian Church, the staff of North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice, Dr. Stephen Smith and Dr. Andrewj Wartak.
