John Daniel Gentry, 34, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Shaeffer’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Shaeffer’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 5, 2018, at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, College St. location from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Daniel was born on Monday, August 6, 1984, in Columbus, MS, to David Ricky and Amanda Perkins Gentry. He was a 2003 graduate of Columbus High and was employed as an entry end operator on the push-pull pickle line for Steel Dynamics. He was a member of Shaeffer’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Daniel married the love of his life, Ashley, on May 22, 2010. Together they have 3 children: Eden Claire, John Paul and Cooper Dale Gentry. It’s common knowledge that Daniel was a jack of all trades, who sported a constant smile and was friends with everyone. Daniel loved a good bonfire, woodworking, smoking food for his friends and family, hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers and doing tractor work. He was a comedian who loved making people laugh, helping anyone in need and adored his children and Ashley beyond words. Daniel was loved by many, adored by all who knew him and will be missed to the moon and back. In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by his wife, Ashley Sullivan Gentry of Columbus, MS; daughter, Eden Claire; sons, John Paul and Cooper Dale; brother, James Dennis Gentry (Christina); mother-in-law, Linda Champion Sullivan; brother-in-law, Justin Sullivan; nephews, William, Wyatt, Milo and Jackson Gentry; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Joe Elinburg, Lee Elinburg, Curtis Godfrey, Lance Hearn, Chad Dees, Dusty Kesler, Lamar Hodges, Keegan Hays and Andrew Hagood. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Sullivan, Nathan Mordecai, Jordan Mordecai, David Plant, Steven Plant, Wesley Champion, John Taylor Champion, Robert Champion, Bobby Champion, The Steel Dynamics family and extended cousins. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Daniel’s brother-in-law, Justin Dale Sullivan, memorials may be made to Huntingtons Disease Society of America (HDSA) online at HDSA.org.
