Robert Green “Bob” McIntyre, age 55, died October 1, 2018, at his home in Columbus.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home and Crematory. A graveside service was held Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the McIntyre family plot in Friendship Cemetery with Father Jeffrey Waldrep officiating.
Bob was born on August 16, 1963, in Columbus, MS, to the late William Henry and Dorothy Ray McIntyre. A lifelong resident of Columbus, he was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. He graduated from Heritage Academy and attended Mississippi State University. He was a Master Plumber and worked in the family business, McIntyre Plumbing, most of his life. Bob was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Bob had a keen mechanical mind. He was an accomplished observer of the natural and manmade world and had interesting insight into both. He was a kind and gentle soul.
He will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Bob’s kindness was a blessing to all of his friends and family, and we would be wise to continue this legacy of kindness.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his twin brother, Charles Scott McIntyre; and his sister-in-law, Anna Hardy McIntyre.
He is survived by his brothers, William H. McIntyre, Jr. (Susan) of New Orleans, LA, Sam Ray McIntyre of Columbus and Dr. Thomas Michael McIntyre (Wanda) of Columbus; sister, Marie McIntyre Barrett of Hendersonville, NC; sister-in-law, Deena Matthews McIntyre of Columbus; uncle, Sam Ray (Charlene) of Madison, MS; nephew, Thomas McIntyre (Anna) of Huntsville, AL; nieces, Frances Knight (Will) of Greenwood, MS, Rowanne McKnight (Jay) of Nashville, TN, Sarah Barrett of New Orleans, LA and Evelyn Claire McIntyre of Tuscaloosa, AL; and numerous McIntyre and Ray cousins, grand nieces and nephews. Bob also leaves behind his dear friend, Tanner Imes, his dog, Scout, and a whole host of people who were lucky enough to call Bob their friend.
Memorials may be made to the Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society, P.O. Box 85, Columbus, MS 39703.
