Grady Richard “Nathan” Mordecai was surrounded by his family as he walked into Heaven to meet his Savior on October 8, 2018. As loved ones and many lifelong friends shared memories, old and new, it is evident that Nathan impacted so many lives throughout his journey here on Earth.

Nathan was born on February 20, 1985. He was a 2003 graduate of New Hope High School where he enjoyed sports and was known as a fierce competitor on the football and baseball fields. He was a member of the 2003 New Hope Baseball State Championship team and especially proud to be named an All State player. He continued to play baseball at EMCC and Bevill State. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2009 with a degree in Construction Engineering and entered into the family business. He was employed by Burks-Mordecai Builders.

Nathan was an active member of Shaeffer’s Chapel United Methodist Church where he proudly helped lead a bible study group. Nathan loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, brothers and cousins. Many weekends were filled with family trips to Pickwick Lake with boat rides and fishing poles in tow. He was filled with love and always greeted his family and friends with a big bear hug and a smile. His smile was contagious, and his smirk was well known. Nathan loved God; he enjoyed life; and he found happiness with the love of his life, Heather House and her sons, Eli and Brayden. Nathan and Heather were to marry on October 20th, 2018.

Nathan is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Grady Richard “GR” Mordecai and Paul Gentry.

Nathan leaves to cherish his memory: parents, Ricky and Diana Mordecai; fiancé Heather House and her two sons, Eli and Brayden; brother, Jordan (Kandace) Mordecai, all of Columbus, MS; brother, Shane (Hope) Kesler of Water Valley, MS; sister, Shannon (Bradley) Coker of West Point, MS; grandmothers, Faye Gentry and Clara Jean Mordecai, both of Columbus, MS; niece, Ana Collins Coker; nephews, Clay, Seth, Paul Kesler, Henry Coker; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
