Hugh Edward Nance, age 50, of Guyton, Georgia, formerly of Columbus, passed away October 12, 2018 in Savannah, Georgia. Services will be held Saturday October 27, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Breck Ladd, Rev. Sammy Crawford and Dr. Robert Ball of Jacksonville, FL, officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Nance was born May 3, 1968 in Columbus to Barbara Ford Nance and the late Paul Allen Nance. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church ,where he served as a deacon, and was a member of the North Mississippi Emmaus Community. He attended and played football at East Mississippi Community College, and received his Master’s Degree from Mississippi State University. He was employed at the Benjamin Moore Paint Company. Hugh was a former football referee and a member of the Hairston Bend Hunting Club. He enjoyed boating and spending time with his family. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Paul E. and Adeline H. Nance and his maternal grandparents Hugh and Lillian Ford.
