DORIS McCRARY

Doris McCrary age 86, died Friday, November 02, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. Services will be held Monday November 5, 2018 at 2 P.M. at Memorial Gunter Peel, 903 College St, with Joe Shane of Cullman, Alabama, former preacher with the East Columbus Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:30 until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCrary was born on August 28, 1932 in Caledonia, MS to the late Lucian and Grace Smith. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, James Smith, Bob Smith and Dan Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Wade McCrary; five sons, Jay McCrary (Gay) of Columbus, MS, Mike McCrary (Wanda) of Cookeville, TN, Jeff McCrary (Melody) of Columbus, GA, Patrick McCrary (Shelia) of Greensboro, AL, and Mark McCrary (Teresa) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Jennifer Cavender (Matt), Lucian McCrary (Katie), Jeff McCrary, Nicki Burleson (Jeremy), Amanda Turner (Eric), Crystal McCrary, Holly McCrary, Steven McCrary (Sharon), Nathan McCrary, Max McCrary, Benjamin McCrary, Emily Claire McCrary, Ciara Arias (Kelvin), Alena McCrary and Camellia McCrary; and 17 great grand children. Her husband and family were her pride and joy.

She was a Christian first in her life, a member of East Columbus Church of Christ. She was primarily a homemaker. She also worked at the Caledonia Library for 10 years.

Pallbearers will be Lucian McCrary, Steven McCrary, Nathan McCrary, Max McCrary, Benjamin McCrary and Matt Cavender.
